"High-density lipoproteins: biology and therapeutics" is a satellite of the XVIth International Symposium on Atherosclerosis (Sydney 2012) held from 30 March - 1 April 2012 in Cairns, Tropical North Queensland, Australia at the Hilton Hotel in Cairns.

HDL Satellite meetings are an established feature of the triennial ISA meetings and regularly attract many of the leading researchers in the field.

The satellite provides a forum for presentation and discussion of state-of-the-art knowledge of the biology and biochemistry of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and of recent developments in therapeutics directed to modifications of HDL metabolism and function.

The program reflects the many recent and exciting developments in the field, and includes presentations by leading researchers. Additional oral presentations are to be selected from submitted abstracts and, along with poster sessions, form an integral part of the scientific program.

We hope that this meeting will provide an excellent forum for exchange of information and discussions between established and junior investigators, trainees and industry scientists.

The location in Cairns also provides you with an unrivalled opportunity to sample some outstanding World Heritage listed natural locations, including the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest. We encourage you to add a few extra days to your visit to Tropical North Queensland to allow time to see some of these wonderful places and we hope that you take home enjoyable and lasting memories of Australia, as well as valuable scientific experiences.
